Recipe makes 8 scones.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 TBSP baking powder
- 3 TBSP brown sugar
- 6 TBSP butter
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 C cream (plus more if needed)
Method:
- Preheat oven to 425° F.
- Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder and brown sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Add the butter, cutting it in with a pastry cutter or fork until the crumb resembles peas.
- Add the egg and cream. Mix well. If the mixture seems too dry, add a bit more cream until you get your desired consistency.
- Place the mixture of a lightly floured work surface and pat out to about an inch thickness.
- Cut into eight triangles.
- Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
