Scones

Recipe makes 8 scones.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 TBSP baking powder
  • 3 TBSP brown sugar
  • 6 TBSP butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 C cream (plus more if needed)

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 425° F.
  • Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder and brown sugar in a mixing bowl. 
  • Add the butter, cutting it in with a pastry cutter or fork until the crumb resembles peas.
  • Add the egg and cream. Mix well. If the mixture seems too dry, add a bit more cream until you get your desired consistency.
  • Place the mixture of a lightly floured work surface and pat out to about an inch thickness.
  • Cut into eight triangles.
  • Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
