Recipe makes 8 scones.

2 cups whole wheat flour

3/4 tsp salt

1 TBSP baking powder

3 TBSP brown sugar

6 TBSP butter

1 large egg

3/4 C cream (plus more if needed)





Preheat oven to 425° F.

Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder and brown sugar in a mixing bowl.  Add the butter, cutting it in with a pastry cutter or fork until the crumb resembles peas. Add the egg and cream. Mix well. If the mixture seems too dry, add a bit more cream until you get your desired consistency.

Place the mixture of a lightly floured work surface and pat out to about an inch thickness. Cut into eight triangles.

Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
